The Do-Over Summary by Sharon M. Peterson

Experiencing a humiliating break-up was the catalyst for Persephone to realize that her life needed a fresh start. This led to the creation of her anti New Year’s resolutions, which she believed even she couldn’t fail at:

1. Cease dating, as she held a low opinion of men.

2. Abandon attempts to lose weight because her love for chocolate was unwavering.

3. Quit working so hard since selling mortgages wasn’t her dream career.

4. Reject unrealistic expectations and focus on living her best life.

5. Abandon the futile pursuit of pleasing her mother.

However, the fifth resolution proved to be more challenging than Persephone initially anticipated, as her mother initiated a campaign to reunite her with her ex. To keep her mother from meddling in her love life, Persephone devised a seemingly perfect solution: an imaginary boyfriend. Little did she know, this boyfriend was meant to be purely fictional until she unintentionally blurted out her neighbor’s name.

Nate, the enigmatic bad boy living next door, possessed striking hazel eyes, a sharply defined jawline, and a mysterious scar. While he may be attractive, he was unequivocally not her boyfriend. Persephone’s primary goal was now to adhere to her resolutions while also shielding her interfering family from her non-existent partner, who remained oblivious to their fictitious relationship. She pondered what could conceivably go wrong.
